2016 Old Vine Zinfandel

Full disclosure…..I am not a big fan of Zinfandel. Maybe because some tend to be “jammy”. Not the case with this bold Zin. When it opened up in the glass the the color changed from a light colored cherry to a deeper one. There is an essence of plum on the first smell and subtly in the tasting along with ripe blackberries, an earthy tobacco (in a good way) and brightness. I think this would stand up perfectly paired with a spicy Mexican dinner! Happy May 5!
